The Alternative Communities Trade In Vanuatu (ACTIV) association is a Vanuatu national union of Fair Trade local associations, cooperatives, and small producers. The association was found in May 2007 and registered in February 2008 and is based in Port-Vila, the capital of the archipelago. ACTIV’s mission is to provide means for social, economic and environmental empowerment of small producers, marginalized and excluded Ni-Vanuatu communities through the concept of Fair Trade. It aims to protect and promote cultural diversity.

ACTIV is a registered member of FTAANZ, the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand.

The association supports economically disadvantaged or marginalized producers; whether these are independent, family businesses or grouped in associations or co-operatives.

ACTIV is structured in such a way that it has several components. ACTIV consists of ACTIV Forum, ACTIV Community and ACTIV Earth under the entities ACTIV Association and ACTIV Limited. These three components have specific functions of Marketing, Sales & Funding, Production & Product Development and reduction of Environmental Impact and Promotion of better living standards.
