Small Town Styles...

It is not quite implemented yet, I'm excitedly waiting for the materials to arrive but thought Id share my plan of attack so others that live in small towns might start planning something similar... Firstly, to plant the seed, I posted a letter to the editor to my local rag today... hopefully it gets published. The late night self-service laundromat on the main street has agreed to let me set it up as a 'Sign On Station'. I'm gonna cover the shop front in posters and if possible get a small billboard for the signage at the top of the building. Inside I'll set up a table with the forms and factsheets, stickers etc. I'll poster the rest of the town with an added note directing people to the laundromat to Sign On. When the laundromat and the rest of the town is looking like a 'Sign On spectacle' I'll approach the local newspaper and inspire them to run a story on the issue and my quest to Sign On the whole town. I can then also put the word out for more volunteers to help. Hopefully the article generates enough interest to get people to stop at the laundromat or sign up on the website. Bring it on! :)

Nice work!

Nice work Sheena. We need as much of this independent action as we can get. Individuals working on their own initiative to gather signatures are a necessity for the campaign.

If anyone wants to do something similar then get in touch with us and we can supply materials.

Hey just wondering if there

Hey just wondering if there are any Manukau City/Botany/Manurewa people Signed On. I'd be keen to organise a meetup and plan to hit the main shopping centres, and local events around this rohe. Door to door is another option - my personal favourite, but is this permissable? I guess we don't want to force the issue.

I wanna help too...

Wow thats so cool!! I hope it works..mind you, you posted this last month so maybe you've already done it? Hope it went well :)
I live in the North Shore and I'd love to go round getting the word out...I have four sisters who I'm sure would be happy to help too! :) There aren't really any events or anything coming up that I know of, but would it be the same just to go to a busy shopping mall maybe? I work next to a Westfield shopping centre..and my sister works in the mall itself. But if it was the mall, would we have to get permission for it? Who knows..but I want to do something :)
Chloe.
