Enviromental Damage From Plastic Bottles

i am writing an essay on the enviromental damage caused from plastic and i can't find anything.
can any body help?

Aquarium

Hi there,

I was in Sydney last month and the aquarium there had a whole display on the life cycle of a plastic bag- how it gets eaten by a seal, kills it, the seal then rots away releasing the plastic bag to continue more damage. Perhaps have a look at their website and others like it...sea world? and see what they have.

The other idea I have is to check out the plastic alternatives- such as SIGG bottles etc- most of them state facts about the damage plastic does to our environment.

Hi Roland,

Ocean plastic is one area to investigate- there is the 'Pacific Garbage Patch' which is apparently 6 meters deep, soup of plastics and materials the size of texas sitting out in the pacific ocean.

David De Rothschild is building a boat out of plastic bottles to sail across the Pacific to raise awareness about it, as is a Sydney man who wants to swim across the pacific in 2010 to raise awareness about it.

Chris Jordan (http://www.chrisjordan.com/) also took some pretty horrific photos of albatross chicks carcasses revealing the plastic they had consumed. Not for the faint hearted! But probably for citizens who dont turn their heads away from the consequences we are making.
