100,000 and growing
Kia ora koutou katoa.
This is great! We have officially reached the 100,000 Sign On milestone!!! I am so overwhelmed by the response we are getting from public and supporters and even more flabbergasted over the fact that it isn’t even December yet!!! We (all) are doing something right, no doubt about it. Now more than ever, John Key and the National government have to take notice and put their money where their mouth is regarding an issue that globally, involves us all. On that note, I say we can get 200,000 more surely. This is not an unrealistic goal, absolutely not.
There are so much more fun activities planned for SignOn and also the blue casts which have become somewhat of an immediate icon and staple that links to SignOn quite well. I'll be organising
Exciting news for Facebook users! The technically minded folk behind the scenes have conjured up a nifty little Facebook application which makes inviting your friends so much easier. With approximately 1 million New Zealand users on “FB” alone, 20% of that will do this campaign so much good. INVITE ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS!!!
Today two furry Polar Bears went out and about at AUT University and Auckland University adorning the blue casts and getting more sign ons. The wonderful thing about having face to face contact with the students is being able to debate and discuss the issue of climate change and particularly how we can achieve the 40% by 2020 target. This has encouraged me to organise more events similar to this, so please if ever you’re at AUT University’s Student Quad area on Wednesday’s at around 12 to 2pm, come over and say hello. No doubt our bears will be there and better yet, a friendly face wearing a Sign On tee.
Finally, I would like to include the most important fact leading up to the climate talks in Copenhagen; this Friday 28th August, marks the 100 day countdown to Copenhagen so time is tck tck tcking...
I plea to John Key and anyone else who has influence on this government to Sign On and commit New Zealand to a 40% emissions reduction target by 2020.
MAKE THE CALL.
Nga mihi and no doubt many more mihi's to come :-)
