Climate emergency in Devonport
Climate emergency in Devonport
On the 350 International Day of Climate Action on Saturday, Greenpeace volunteers and other organisations joined together at Windsor Park in Devonport on Auckland's North Shore, to support strong climate action. Our theme - a climate emergency tent - drew in all sorts of people to Sign On and show their support for the campaign.
It was a funfilled morning consisting of music performances and speeches from several speakers, from Green Party MPs to Sign On ambassador Robyn Malcom. They all focussed on addressing the importance of real action. Throughout the events in the morning we were able to raise over a hundred dollars toward John Keys ticket to Copenhagen as well as another couple of hundred Sign Ons.
I’d like to thank 350 for all the work they put into in organising this event and everyone else who was involved. Less than six weeks to go before Copenhagen - lets make the most of them!

plans are afoot... Where are you? we'll be sure to let you know if the tent comes to town.
Great - hope it comes down to Thames!
This is my first comment. I AM READING AND LISTENING to every thing about climate change. I hope i'll be ready...
These are the people who are ready to cope with the unexpected and usually avoid emergencies. It is no wonder then that families coming to Union Rescue Mission are up over 340% since last year, and our meals are up 32% from 18 months ago. The economy is not healthy, and our Nation has certainly felt the fallout from the fact that we live in financially discouraging times. If it isn't one thing, it's another, and everyone has a financial emergency of some sort. Like a toilet that backs up, or a window that gets broken or a flat tire or blown radiator – it happens, and often times it leaves people needing emergency cash. Credit cards work, but the interest and accumulation gets expensive. Savings are also great, but you have to replenish those funds, and some people look into same day loans from payday loans lenders. If used sparingly, it's just fine – but as with any other financial supplement they have to be used cautiously and with respect.
