Keisha Castle-Hughes's blog

Hi guys, Just became an ambassador for Greenpeace and have been doing a bit of work with them. I have a passion for the environment and believe it is important for people to stand up, take responsibility and all chip in to change. I want my children & grand-children to have the option of the resources I've been so lucky to have. There isn't another planet to move to, we are not the last generation here. This is as real as it gets & affects ALL of us NOW!

Keisha responds to Key

Kia ora everybody -   Nice to be back in touch with you all after so long!   It seems I've been name-dropped at the Brisbane Business Forum by none other than Mr. John Key!   After asking the crowd whether or not they had heard of me from Whale Rider and also about my position as an ambassador for the Sign On campaign.

Day 6: The time has come to do what’s essential

Tena koutou,

I’m sitting with the CEO of Greenpeace Australia/Pacific Steve Shallhorn in Aitutaki, waiting to be picked up for our final leg of the journey. It has been a wonderful journey, an emotional journey and a meaningful journey. I have learnt so much and have fallen in love with The Cooks.

Day 5: Paradise under threat

Kia Orana koutou katoatoa,

Aitutaki is beautiful, the people are friendly and the land is plentiful. I would go as far to call it Paradise on Earth. Seeing the effects of climate change and knowing there's a possibility that the land could possibly be ruined someday is devastating.

Day 4: Groundwork on Aitutaki

Hey everybody,

Day 3: The Boxing Day races are no more

Kia Orana koutou,

Yet another eye-opening day, it’s been jam-packed with knowledge and I’m soaking it all up like a sponge.

Day 2: Up close and personal with climate change

Hey everyone,

Well I have had a jam-packed day!

Day one aboard the Esperanza

Kia Orana!

Here we are finally on the Esperanza. Man, it’s pretty amazing, not sure what I had expected but it has definitely blown my mind! It’s huge – and there is a fabulous crew on board. It’s very humbling to be around a group of people who are all passionate about the planet.

Voices from the Pacific

Hi there everyone!

Just a quick note about the Sign On campaign. Initially, I wanted to be a part of the campaign because I believe in what it stands for. I am always very wary of what I agree to do, too much and it takes away from the truth of the message or cause.
